CHARLOTTE — The Carolina Panthers are limping toward the bye week.
The Panthers are expected to be without four prominent players Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys. Linebacker Na’il Diggs (ribs) has already been ruled out, while fullback Brad Hoover (back), strong safety Chris Harris (knee) and defensive end Everette Brown (ankle) did not practice on Saturday and are listed as doubtful.
That likely means rookie fullback Tony Fiammetta will make his first start in place of Hoover.
Defensively, it’s expected Landon Johnson will fill in for Diggs, while Quinton Teal will make his third straight start for Harris. Meanwhile, Nick Hayden is listed as probable with a toe injury and probably will start at defensive tackle with Louis Leonard going on injured reserve earlier in the week.
Everyone else is probable, including running backs Jonathan Stewart (Achilles) and Mike Goodson (illness), tackles Jordan Gross (knee) and Jeff Otah (shoulder) and wide receivers Muhsin Muhammad (ankle) and Steve Smith (ankle). Also, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and defensive end Charles Johnson, who left practice early Friday with heat-related issues, are also listed as probable.
