Panthers DE Julius Peppers, who hadn’t spoke to the interview in more than three weeks, broke his silence on Thursday granting a five-minute interview to reporters. Peppers didn’t want to talk about his speech to his teammates on Oct. 18.
“I don’t want to talk about that,” Peppers said. “That is something we did as a team and is private. I have no comments on anything that is supposed to be kept within the team.”
Peppers did say the defense is playing better because they’re more familiar with the system.
“We are coming along. Everybody is getting better collectively and it’s leading to a better performance,” he said.
Peppers also said this is the most interchangeable line he’s ever played for.
“I’m not saying it’s the best line I’ve been a part of. I’m saying as far as guys being able to play different positions and switch in and out with each other,” he said.
And, Peppers was adamant that the Panthers need to forget about January’s loss to Arizona.
“Nobody should be thinking about anything that happened last year in that playoff game. That was last year. This is a new season. Right now we’re just trying to get a win,” Peppers said.
He also said DT Hollis Thomas has been huge pickup for the defense.
“It’s helping a lot. He’s a great addition and he’s taking up a lot of space and helping the run defense. We’re playing more sound inside because he’s so big inside,” Peppers said.
We’ll have a story up shortly…
