Agent: Peppers will visit Chicago on Friday, Philadelphia a possibility, too

The Chicago Bears have extended free agent Julius Peppers an impressive contract offer, his agent Carl Carey told Carolina Growl moments ago. Carey said he and Peppers will meet with members of the Bears front office later today in Chicago.

Carey said at this point it’s the only trip he has set up, but added that the Philadelphia Eagles are “very interested” and Peppers will take a visit there if things don’t work out with Chicago. Contrary to some reports, Carey also said the Washington Redskins have not pulled out and remain interested in Peppers, too.

Carey said there are a few other teams interested in the five-time Pro Bowl defensive end, but he wouldn’t name them.

“Chicago will be our first visit and we don’t want them looking over their shoulder worrying about other teams right now,” Carey said. “They were the first to call and they’ve made us a ballpark offer and it’s good enough to where we’ll make a visit. Pending the outcome of that visit we may visit with Philadelphia and see where we are from there.”
