WLB Thomas Davis said he hopes to return to the field for Carolina’s Nov. 14 game against Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium.
Davis, who is recovering from a second torn ACL in his knee, said he’s been “doing a good bit of running” at full speed already and tons a strength training.
“Today after the strength workout, I was able to do some running,” Davis said. “The running went really well. I’m excited about where I am right now. It’s the best I’ve felt.”
Davis made a quick recovery from a torn ACL earlier this year, only to re-tear it in OTAs in June. Looking back, he said the one mistake he made is going through drills without a knee brace, which was his own decision.
He said he won’t make that mistake again.
“I definitely think it would have helped me out if I had it on,” Davis said. “I don’t think we’d be standing here talking about a second surgery if I had it on, to be honest with you. We felt good about where I was the first time. Not making any excuses, but I feel like if I did have it on I wouldn’t be where I am right now.”
When asked his chances of getting back on the field this season, Davis said, “If I was a betting man, I’d bet everything I had.”
