GM Marty Hurney told www.carolinagrowl.com late Sunday night that despite an increasing number of names being associated with the team’s coaching search the Panthers have not set up any interviews yet.

“We have not requested permission to talk with anyone,” Hurney said. “That’s something we will begin this week.”

Hurney said the Panthers have a list of candidates in mind but wouldn’t say how many. He also said there is no timetable on when the team might name a replacement for coach John Fox.

On Sunday night, there was a report on Pro Football Talk that the Panthers planned to interview San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, but Hurney reiterated that the team hasn’t contacted anyone about an interview and won’t until this week.
