Reeder's Take

Williams, Kalil both say they want to return to Panthers

DeAngelo Williams and Ryan Kalil, two of Carolina’s top potential free agents this offseason, say they want to return to the Panthers next year.
“This would be a great place for me,” Williams said. “I have a family and we would love to stay here. I’ve never said I wanted to leave here.”
   Kalil agrees.
“I like Carolina and obviously at the end of the day I’m going to do what’s best for my family,” Kalil said. “But I do like the ownership here. I like the city of Charlotte and I love the guys that are on this team, the core group of guys that have been here since I’ve been here. Time will tell what happens. But I think until the CBA is done there won’t be any contract talks.”
Those comments echo the sentiments of the team’s other top free agents — linebackers Thomas Davis and James Anderson, defensive end Charles Johnson, quarterback Matt Moore and tight end Jeff King. Only cornerback Richard Marshall has said he’s headed out the door, indicating his agent told him the Panthers won’t re-sign him.
