Panthers still awaiting word on MRI on WR David Gettis’ left knee

   WR David Gettis is in Charlotte today undergoing an MRI exam today on his left knee. Gettis was carted off the field following Wednesday night’s practice at Wofford College. Gettis has missed a good portion of training camp while dealing with a hamstring injury.

   “He went up to get an exam. And once he gets the MRI done, we’ll get a conclusive answer,” Panthers coach Ron Rivera said. “So we’re just waiting to find out. All I really know is he tweaked the knee.”

   Gettis started 15 games as a rookie with 37 receptions and three touchdowns.

   –LB Jon Beason is expected to return next week from the Achilles’ tendinitis that has kept him out of training camp, Rivera said.

“He had a real good day (Wednesday) running with the training staff and conditioning staff,” Rivera said.
