Beason says he’s feeling pretty good, optimistic about his chances of playing Sunday

Middle linebacker Jon Beason has started 48 consecutive games for the Carolina Panthers.

So what are his chances of keeping that streak alive when the Panthers play the Arizona Cardinals in Sunday’s season opener?

“I’m feeling pretty good,” Beason said prior to Wednesday’s practice. “It’s going to be a process and everything is geared toward Sunday. We’ll see what happens. I’m going to try my best.”

Beason practiced on a limited basis on Monday.

He hasn’t practiced at all in the preseason after suffering from inflammation in the bone of his foot. Beason had a surgical procedure done to calm the pain which included three screws being inserted into the foot. It was originally thought to be Achilles tendinitis, but an MRI later revealed he had inflammation in the bone of his foot.
